• Spice Bush or commonly known as pond berry.
• A native shrub from the laurel family grows 3-4' tall and 2' wide at maturity.
• Flowers before leaves appear in clusters on nodes of last years growth.
• Fruit is a short stalked shiny red berry with a single seed.
• The common name refers to the sweet spicy fragrance of the stems, leaves and fruits when bruised. This shrub is a MUST if your a bird lover/watcher.
